Scirocco / Sirocco (SE)
Sirocco is a warmer wind from the south-east. In Chia it can push waves into the bays and make some routes less comfortable, especially when it becomes stronger during the day.

Life jackets
Adult and children sizes are available. Children and less confident swimmers should keep them on whenever required by the team.
First aid kit
A complete first aid kit is carried on board according to the vessel and activity setup.
Anchor & rope
Anchoring equipment is checked so guests can stop safely in suitable areas and avoid damaging the seabed.
What to bring
- Water: bring enough drinking water, especially for half-day and full-day rentals.
- Sun protection: high SPF sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are strongly recommended.
- Beach towel: useful for swimming stops, sunbathing and comfort on board.
- Phone or camera: protect it from water and use it to capture the coast around Tuerredda and Chia.
Small rules, better day
- Seasickness: if you are sensitive, take precautions before departure and ask our team for advice.
- Shoes: barefoot is usually best on board to keep surfaces clean and safe.
- Waste: bring everything back with you. Help us keep the sea clean.
- Children: younger children should wear life jackets whenever required by the team or conditions.

How Mistral affects Chia sea weather
The Mistral, coming from the north-west, is a key factor for boating in South Sardinia. In the Chia area it often creates clearer and flatter water close to selected coastal sections because it can blow from land toward the sea. This does not automatically mean every Mistral day is safe: gusts, intensity and distance from the coast must always be considered.
Sirocco conditions and safety
The Sirocco comes from the south-east and can push waves directly into the bays. When a strong Sirocco is forecast, our team may recommend a more sheltered route, a different departure area, or a reschedule. This is why local advice is important: the safest itinerary depends on the wind, the swell and the experience level of the group.

What is the best time of day for calm sea in Chia?
In many summer conditions, the morning is the calmest part of the day, especially between around 9:00 and 13:00. The breeze often increases in the afternoon, so we always check the forecast before confirming the best time for your activity.
Do you cancel boat rentals if the weather is bad?
Yes, if our team considers the sea unsafe, we do not send guests out. You can usually reschedule for free, and if that is not possible under our weather policy, a refund is arranged.
Is it safe to rent a boat without a license in Chia?

Which wind is best for boating in Chia?
There is no single answer because strength and route matter. A moderate Mistral can sometimes leave coastal water flatter near selected bays, while a strong Sirocco can create uncomfortable waves entering the bays.
